A few months ago, the Google Play team announced that a new privacy and security section would arrive on Google Play in 2022. Just like Apple users can do, they could view the data apps use to track them directly from the App Store.
The new privacy and security section will be available on the Play Store so that developers can inform users about the data that apps will collect and share before downloading them, along with their security practices. This information will be displayed on the app\'s page.
On each app\'s page, users will see a summary of the privacy and security of their data. Here, the developer will have to explain what data an app collects or shares, highlighting security details such as whether it uses data encryption, whether it follows Google Play\'s privacy policy, and whether the app has been independently validated against a global security standard.
Users will be able to access a privacy and security summary to view the complete list of all types of data collected and shared: location, contacts, personal information such as name, email address, phone number, and financial information, among others. Developers will also have to explain how the data is used and whether data collection is optional or required to use the application.
Google is creating privacy and security labels that users can expand to understand the context and explanation provided by the developer for accessing each permission or piece of personal information. This will require all developers to be transparent about the data they collect from their users.
