Mark Zuckerberg, through a presentation at Facebook Connect 2021, unveiled the new name of the social network
The owner of the Facebook company, Mark Zuckerberg through a presentation at Facebook Connect 2021, announced the new name of the social network which will be changed to Meta.
"Facebook is one of the most used products in the history of the world. It is an iconic social network, but little by little it has not been able to channel everything we do," explained the businessman when presenting the new branding.
Although the social network will not cease to exist and will continue to function as such, your company name becomes Meta. Meanwhile, this is an online world in which you can perform activities such as work, play, communicate with virtual friends, all in the same place with the help of virtual reality.
Regarding the Metaverse, Zuckerberg explained that this “vision encompasses many companies, the entire industry. You can think of it as the successor to the mobile internet. And it's certainly not something a single company is going to build, but I think a large part of our next chapter will hopefully contribute to building that, in partnership with many other companies, creators and developers, ”stated the owner of the company.
Other companies such as Epic Games, have already spent 1,000 million dollars to create this metaverse, which aims to interconnect human beings through virtuality to coexist as in the real world.
