Google Play will report the data collected by the applications

The new privacy and security section of the Play Store

A few months ago, the Google Play team announced that a new privacy and security section will arrive on Google Play in 2022. As Apple users can do: check the data used by apps to track them from the App Store.

The new privacy and security section will come to the Play Store for developers to inform users, the data that will be collected and shared by the applications before downloading them along with their security practices. To do this, they will show this information in the applications tab.

In the file of each application, users will see a summary with the privacy and security of our data. Here the developer will have to share an explanation about what data an application collects or shares, highlighting security details such as whether it has data encryption, whether it follows Google Play policy, or whether the application has been independently validated against a standard of global security.

Users will be able to inform themselves through a privacy and security summary, to consult the complete list with all types of data that are collected and shared: location, contacts, personal information, be it name, email address, telephone or financial information , among others. In addition they will also have to report how the data is used and if the data collection is optional or necessary to use the application.

Google is creating privacy and security labels in which the user can deploy to know the context and the explanation that the developer to access each permission or personal information. Thus Google Play will force all developers to be transparent with the data they collect from their users.
