Instagram incorporated new tools in order to combat comments and messages with racist, sexist, homophobic content, and harassment in general.

The social network announced that it will take extreme measures to prevent the spread of comments and direct messages that harass and promote hate speech . This with the new function called Limits , whose function limits who can comment on a post or send a direct message to its author.

With the new update, users can choose not to have their posts commented on by users who do not follow them, or who do so recently. Blocking also works on direct message requests.

Filtered Words is another option where you can hide offensive comments and message requests . In addition, you can make a list of words, phrases and emojis that users do not want to see in interactions with our publications or accounts.

In the case of direct messages, if Instagram detects offensive content, it sends them to a folder so that they remain hidden . In addition, warnings will be in place that will be displayed when people are about to comment on a post using inappropriate, abusive or disrespectful terms.
